Message from the Dean

Welcome to Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences.  The College was established in 2008 and offers an Associate Degree in nursing, as well as a Dual Degree program with our academic partner, Keuka College.  In addition, Finger Lakes Health is also home to the Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing, which offers an LPN certificate.  Both the LPN and RN programs are accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and registered with the New York State Department of Education.

As a nurse who began my career as an LPN, I understand the importance of having a career pathway that allows for continued personal and professional growth.  Finger Lakes Health provides the opportunity for career advancement for LPNs who are interested in obtaining their RN degree through two options:  our unique second semester admission option for those who currently hold a valid LPN license or the Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing/Marion S. Whelan 1+1 option.

RN nursing options include the Dual Degree (1+2+1) program with Keuka College.  In this four-year program, a student takes their first and fourth year of study at Keuka College, years two and three comprise the Associate Degree in the nursing program at Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Upon successful completion of year three, the student earns their Associate Degree and is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN Licensing exam. They may then commence working as a Registered Nurse (RN). With the successful completion of year four, the student earns their Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

A paid RN Residency program for new RN graduates employed at Finger Lakes Health offers support and continued professional growth to RN graduates who are just beginning their professional career as a Registered Nurse.  This program focuses on cementing basic RN skill competencies while orienting the new RN to their role as primary care provider in today’s fast-paced healthcare system.
